Boston Celtics’ standout player, Jaylen Brown, is set to make NBA history with an extraordinary five-year supermax extension valued at a staggering $303.7 million, according to his agent, Jason Glushon, who revealed the news to ESPN on Tuesday.

Brown, alongside Glushon, engaged in discussions with the Celtics’ management and ownership on Sunday evening in Boston, finalizing the remaining details of this historic deal. The extension ensures that the two-time All-Star will remain under contract with the Celtics until the conclusion of the 2028-29 season.

This groundbreaking contract surpasses the previous record holder, two-time MVP Nikola Jokic, whose extension with the Denver Nuggets amounted to $276 million. The increase in salary cap and league revenue played a significant role in boosting Brown’s deal. The 26-year-old underwent a physical examination on Monday in Boston to formalize the agreement.

Jaylen Brown’s eligibility for the five-year supermax extension was triggered when he earned second-team All-NBA honors during the 2022-23 season. Paired with teammate Jayson Tatum, who becomes eligible for a supermax extension next summer, the two form one of the most productive duos in the NBA and are essential pillars in the Celtics’ pursuit of a championship.

The past season saw Brown achieve career-best statistics, with an impressive average of 26.6 points and 49% shooting. In the upcoming season, the final year of his previous contract, he will earn $31.8 million.

As per the terms of the new deal, Brown is scheduled to receive $52.3 million during the 2024-25 season and a staggering $69.1 million in the deal’s concluding year in 2028-29. Unfortunately, a no-trade clause is not part of the agreement due to the extension’s nature.

Brown’s on-court partnership with Tatum yielded remarkable results, with the duo combining for an astounding 56.7 points per game last season, placing them among the top duos since the NBA merger in 1976-77. Additionally, they both scored 30 points in 10 games, a feat only achieved by Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant in the past three decades.

Off the court, Jaylen Brown is a multi-talented individual, excelling as a businessman, fashion enthusiast, and mentor for numerous kids. He actively engages in philanthropy in both Boston and internationally. Notably, he serves as the vice president of the National Basketball Players Association.

Recently, the Atlanta native attended Paris Fashion Week and delivered a speech at Variety’s Sports and Entertainment Summit, where he discussed his off-court successes. Through his 7uice Foundation, Brown has formed impactful partnerships to promote equal education and leadership opportunities for youth of color. His third annual Bridge Program in Boston is currently underway, benefiting 100 Boston public school students. Additionally, he plans to visit Kenya in the offseason to mentor over 200 local students.

Moreover, Brown was among the 20 NBA players who participated in the NBPA’s “The Sanctuary,” a performance retreat held in Andalucía, Spain. Jaylen Brown’s achievements, both on and off the court, exemplify his remarkable character and dedication to making a positive impact.
