The documentary sheds light on Manziel’s journey, starting from his early triumphs as the first redshirt freshman to win the prestigious Heisman Trophy while playing for Texas A&M in 2012. However, his life took a dark turn after the 2015 season when he began heavily using OxyContin and cocaine, resulting in a drastic weight loss from 215 pounds in January to 175 pounds by September of that year.

The drug abuse had severe repercussions for Manziel, as it coincided with a decline in his performance on the field and multiple legal issues. He faced a misdemeanor assault charge against his former girlfriend, Colleen Crowley, but the charges were eventually dropped after meeting the court’s conditions for a dismissal agreement.

The Cleveland Browns eventually released Manziel in March 2016, and it was later revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Despite his struggles, he initially resisted seeking help and instead engaged in self-destructive behavior, admitting to going on a reckless spending spree amounting to $5 million before attempting suicide.
